ATLANTA, GA – Two runs in the six inning let Georgia State leapfrog over the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky, 3-2, to earn themselves a spot in the regional final.
Mandy Blackwell was downright unconscious at the dish on Thursday morning. The first baseman was 4-4 with four RBI and represented the winning run in the sixth inning.
Kelsey McGuffin provided most of the offense for Western Kentucky. Going 1-2 at the plate, the centerfielder also tallied both of the Hilltopper’s RBI.
Georgia State will advance to the regional final against in-state rival Kennesaw State. Game one of the final is set for 1 p.m. ET. The Panthers will need to edge the Owls to force a game two.
