ATLANTA, GA – A late run in the top of the seventh innings proved to be the difference in the inter-Georgia regional final. Kennesaw State ended as the last team standing Thursday, defeating host Georgia State, 3-2.
With her only hit of the day, Kira Czyrklis sliced a single through the right side of the infield, allowing Olivia Tamewitz to score the inevitable winning run. Alley Cutting came on in relief for Logan Viers. Cutting’s one and two thirds innings of relief included two strikeouts and zero surrendered hits.
For the home side, Emily Soles pitched a terrific seven innings, but eight hits and three runs edged out the Panthers from a championship round birth.
Kennesaw State now punch their ticket to the championship round. A host site is still to be determined, but games will commence on May 21.
